We recently came across an issue where when trying to connect a bluetooth mouse, it kept coming up asking to enter a passkey. Well, with it being a mouse you cannot enter a code so how do you fix it?

You need to look in the registry and remove the address for it. Identifying the address is difficult but if you only have this one device or know what your address is, then you should delete it from this registry location:

HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Bluetooth\Exception\DB\Addrs

Then go back into your bluetooth devices and try and re-add it, you should find that it will now reconnect and work for you.

  1. I solved the problem in Windows 10 by executing control.exe (the old style control panel).
You add the mouse as a BT peripheral. It asks for a PIN. You leave it blank and click next.
