Bluetooth Mouse asking for passcode

mouse

We recently came across an issue where when trying to connect a bluetooth mouse, it kept coming up asking to enter a passkey. Well, with it being a mouse you cannot enter a code so how do you fix it?

You need to look in the registry and remove the address for it. Identifying the address is difficult but if you only have this one device or know what your address is, then you should delete it from this registry location:

HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Bluetooth\Exception\DB\Addrs

Then go back into your bluetooth devices and try and re-add it, you should find that it will now reconnect and work for you.

Exchange Server – Anti-Spam Recipient Filtering

5d05eb33135798a962e3199db1fa4a4c

If you want to add multiple specific email addresses to your Exchange Anti-Spam Recipient Filtering then you can use Exchange Management Shell to run a command to add comma separated multiple email addresses.

The command you should run is this:

 Set-RecipientFilterConfig -BlockedRecipients joe@bloggs.com,steve@techygeekshome.info,bob@mail.com

You can keep adding email addresses to the list for what you require.

Something to keep in mind though, when you use this method, it will remove whatever you have in the list currently. To get around this you can use this script:

 $Configuration = Get-RecipientFilterConfig
 $Configuration.BlockedRecipients += "joe@bloggs.com,steve@techygeekshome.info,bob@mail.com"
 Set-RecipientFilterConfig -BlockedRecipients $Configuration.BlockedRecipients

If you want the shell command to enable the recipient filtering then you can use this:

 Set-RecipientFilterConfig -BlockListEnabled $true

To block messages to recipients that don’t exist in your organization, run the following command:

 Set-RecipientFilterConfig -RecipientValidationEnabled $true

Cisco VPN Client – How to make it work with Windows 10

How to make the legacy Cisco VPN client worth with Windows 10 [2020 Updated]

Total Time: 15 minutes

Introduction

cisco error

If you are trying to install Cisco VPN Client on a Windows 10 machine, then you will probably get an error telling you that it is incompatible with the version of Windows you are using like the above image.

Well, this is true, however, there is a way around this by using the steps below.

Download the VPN Fix Package

First of all you need to download our VPN fix package for Windows 10 which you can download using the link below:

Download Cisco VPN Fix Package

Scroll down the page a little and you will see the blue Download button like the one above.

You will also need to ensure that you have the installer for the legacy Cisco VPN client software, as this is licenced, we cannot give you a download for it.

Extract the Cisco VPN Fix Package

Once you have these you should extract the VPN fix package which will give you the following utilities:

WinFix.exe – Windows Fixup for DNE
DNEUpdatex86.msi – DNE Updater for x86 Operating Systems (Provided by Citrix)
DNEUpdatex64.msi – DNE Updater for x64 Operating Systems (Provided by Citrix)
CiscoVPNClientFixx64.exe – Cisco VPN Client Fix for x64 Operating Systems (Provided by TechyGeeksHome)
CiscoVPNClientFixx86.exe – Cisco VPN Client Fix for x86 Operating Systems (Provided by TechyGeeksHome)

Run the Fixes in order

Winfix.exe

You have to run these utilities in a particular order to enable this to work. So, identify the architecture of the operating system you are using, for this guide we will use x64.

Run the WinFix.exe utility first and you will be presented with a box like the one above.

You should click on the Start Windows Fixup button to start the process, once completed you will get a message in the utility advising that the installation is complete.

DNE Update Utility

DNE Utility

You can then move on to installing the DNE Update utility. So double click the DNEUpdatex64.msi and you will see a standard installation wizard like the one above.

Install Legacy Cisco VPN Client

You can then go ahead and install the Cisco VPN Client which should now install without any problems – but ensure that you use the MSI file to start the install process, NOT the EXE file.

However, this is not the end of the process as the VPN Client, although successfully installed, will not actually connect to your VPN profiles.

Enabling the VPN Profiles

To resolve this issue, you should now install the CiscoVPNClientFixx64.exe utility by again just running through all the wizard defaults.

Once this is complete, you should reboot your computer. Then you should be able to fire up your Cisco VPN Client and connect to your VPN profiles without any trouble!

Windows 8.1 & Windows 10

If you are running Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 and are having trouble with your Cisco VPN Client then you should take a look at our Cisco Microsite by clicking the link below for guides and utilities:

Word attachment jpaoscanner email Backdoor:Win32/Drixed.M virus alert

Computer Virus Removal 600x315

So have you been bombarded with emails from your network scanner today?

Another virus attack was launched today with the email seemingly coming from your local network scanner, usually with an email address of “jpaoscanner@yourcomany.com”

A word attachment with the file name similar to “Scann16011310150.doc” is what the virus is and those that have opened the attachment will have started a process that will not be running the “Backdoor:Win32/Drixed.M” virus.

So, we suggest you blacklist the offending email address and warn your users not to open this attachment!

If you remember the good old days when Microsoft had Digital River to allow you to download a whole range of ISO files for Windows operating systems, then you would have been pretty annoyed when they took Digital River offline.

However, a German website has started to collate most of these ISOs and now has quite a large selection of Windows operating system ISO’s to download.

Head over to the link below to take a look at what they have to offer:
