Windows and Office Activation Proxy Whitelist Websites

TGH Profile Image 512x512

We recently came across an issue where our Configuration Manager Operating System Deployments (OSD) were failing at the activating Windows step. Having spent far too much time looking into why it was doing this, we eventually found out that it was our proxy servers that were blocking access it the Microsoft activation servers.

So, to get around these issues, we have acquired a list of websites that need to be whitelisted to enable Windows activation to work so add these to your own whitelists if you are having a similar problem:

  • activation.sls.microsoft.com
  • activation-v2.sls.microsoft.com
  • crl.microsoft.com
  • crl.microsoft.com/pki/crl/products/MicProSecSerCA_2007-12-04.crl
  • displaycatalog.md.mp.microsoft.com
  • displaycatalog.mp.microsoft.com
  • go.microsoft.com
  • licensing.md.mp.microsoft.com
  • licensing.mp.microsoft.com
  • login.live.com
  • purchase.md.mp.microsoft.com
  • purchase.mp.microsoft.com
  • sls.microsoft.com
  • validation.sls.microsoft.com
  • validation-v2.sls.microsoft.com
  • www.microsoft.com

After this, we also found that we had a similar issue with our Office activation’s. So, there are also a few other websites that you should add to your whitelists to cover Office as well:

  • productactivation.one.microsoft.com
  • go.microsoft.com
  • odc.officeapps.live.com
  • officeimg.vo.msecnd.net
