If you have Windows XP, or if like me, you have to rebuild many friends and family members old computers, then you will probably be aware of Microsoft Security Essentials – the free Microsoft security program.
Microsoft have provided this free of charge to Windows XP and Windows 7 users for some time now but that is soon to end for Windows XP users when the popular operating system hits it end of life date on 8th April 2014.
Microsoft will remove the download links for MSE so the advice is to make sure that you get the x64 and x86 versions of the software now and keep a copy for future use!
Below you will find the current download links for MSE – however these will become dead links from 8th April 2014.
The good news however is that Microsoft have confirmed that although Windows XP will stop receiving automatic updates and technical assistance, they will still supply definition updates to MSE until July 2015.
So, grab your MSE software now before it is too late!
